The Practice employs 10 vets, 11 nurses and 7 support staff. Professional development is encouraged for all members of the Practice.
The 'Old Pound' is normally a mixed Practice of equine, farm and small animal work. We offer all our clients a 24-hour emergency service, two vets being on call during out of hours. During office hours the telephone is always answered by a member of the Practice, out of hours we have a call handling service. Both aim to provide the personal touch on which the Practice prides itself.
The area covered by the Practice is a large one stretching from Market Drayton in the north to Leominster in the south and from Shrewsbury in the west to the West Midlands conurbation. We are a friendly, welcoming Practice with client care being as important as the high standard of veterinary skills which are demonstrated by all the vets.
The original Practice was founded in 1946 by Tony Jarvis and set up in the Old Vicarage which was also his home.
In 1957 he was joined by Mr Tony Bradley and this was the beginning of the present Practice. It was extended in the 1970s to include out buildings and these buildings eventually became the Practice. Further modernisation took place in the late 1990s when a modern administration centre was developed. The practice was again extended in 2005.
We currently have 4 additional well established branch surgeries based in Donnington, Madeley and Broseley and an equine clinic in Aston Munslow.
